Strange project...

(you can click on the pic to see it bigger
I closed my eyes and picked 2 pieces of paper. Turned out I got a piece of checkered wall paper and some orange tissue paper. Then I got the news paper and picked the first picture that caused a little spark. Chickens!? Why chickens...I guess it's because I had just been reading an article about animal totems and I felt like I had identified with "The Chicken". The chicken?! Yes...oh well. I also felt a connection with "The Bat" but I didn't come across a bat today...

Anyway, why my project came out like it did is beyond me! What do you think?

WWJD?

Why are we still fighting? What ever happened to "Love thy neighbor"?
Why do we keep hurting our Earth? Why do we keep hurting ourselves?
"When we heal the earth, we heal ourselves. "
Why do we keep forgetting who we truly are?

More crusade #18 - play time!

Bryce & I continued crusade #18 yesterday morning...We decided that art comes before cleaning (A before C) so we left the dishes in the sink, toys everywhere, beds unmade & jammie's on! :-)

This is Bryce, my grandson and I creating with our newly carved rubber stamp

The cat stamps (which Bryce (4yrs.old) helped pick out to carve) were what he wanted to stamp and paint. He has a red, black, blue and green Power Ranger cats here...

This is my doodle checker board stamp I drew then carved

And... below is what I ended up with this morning using it.
Super spontaneous in deed...Don't have any idea where it came from it just happened!

Happy Easter!

The New Earth - Chapter 1 Thoughts

I wanted to take parts of the first chapter that really moved me but geezzz it's the entire chapter! Although I have read, studied and pondered philosophical, metaphysical and religious thoughts for years (ever since my mom gave me the book "Jonathan Livingston Seagull") so these aren't not new thoughts but thoughts that are very ancient. Even though, I am really enjoying this book a lot! I absolutely love the idea of thousands and thousands of people watching the web cast all at the same time, thinking the on the same lines and that is the healing of our ego derived stinkin’ thinkin’ that is so prevalent in our world! That means being selfish, causing war, greed, thinking bad about ourselves and forgetting that we need to nurture our selves, and our children, our planet etc. Eckhart and Oprah both are presenting this web cast very well (which can be watched or downloaded any time on her web site). Eckhart is such a gentle, speaker who actually stays on the question or the thought without wandering into super deep presentations or explanations and Oprah is asking real good questions and not being "Oprah" meaning she isn't seeming to be the "know it all'...not that she would ever! (Oprah I love you!)
I‘ll chose a few thoughts and points that I loved for my blog post today...

Is humanity ready for a change of consciousness?

Don't tell life or God what my purpose is...ask what my purpose is and be open to the answer, even if I don’t like the answer all that much.

When a very strong impulse or idea (or answer) comes I may need to wait a bit first before acting on it. It doesn't necessarily mean I have to immediately obey these impulses because impulses can come from superficial levels within your self. Be wise enough to have discernment.

Be here now - Enjoy what I am doing now or I'll de-value the moment and miss it.

If I’m buying or asking for some from my ego mind - I'll know it because I won't be satisfied when I get it. I'll feel I need more. If I am asking for something or buying something with love or true need then it will bless me and all who use or experience the item.
I'd love comments :-) and have a great hair day! Becci

Great Intentions...Mission Acomplished!

Crusade #18 - carving my very own rubber stamp.

First I picked out a few pictures I liked then scanned them into my computer. I changed the sizes, desaturated and adjusted the contrast to a very black and white image. Then I printed them so I could take them to the grocery store to copy them again on the copier with a toner type ink. Toner ink will transfer better than ink jet printer ink...So after doing all the adjusting to my picture on my computer with ease you'd think the copier at the grocery store would have been easy-peasy! NO! I screwed around with that stupid thing for 20 minutes just to get 1 copy! 1 copy is 10cents but I spent 60cents before I got it done! I don't think I've used a copier like that for years! Ever since I got my home computer I don't need to get copies done at the store... On the other hand do you think there was anyone who worked there who knew how to operate it either? NO! geezzz.... :-)
Then...
I was going to use Michelle's suggestion of Goof-Off to do my image transfers to the carving rubber. I got home from the grocery store positive I had some of the stuff...No I didn't! It was pouring rain and the temperature was sitting at 34degrees Burrr! I was dreading going back out to get Goof-Off. My son Brian saved the day "Hey Mom, just use wintergreen oil to do the same thing." Well, I was somewhat stunned and said something sorta snippy like "oh sure, like every ones cabinet had wintergreen oil in it"! His reply..."I have some in my bathroom cabinet down stairs you can use." Well, sure enough he did! And no I didn't ask why and I don't think I want to know! HA! :-) . Really he is quite the artist himself and he must have done a transfer at one time for one of his projects. Neat guy! I did this out side real fast so I didn't freeze and stink up the house with the oil. Wintergreen is a good smell but I tell you what, that oil was extremely strong smelling!

Next... after great success transferring the images to the carving rubber, I began to carve. I am really liking this project, thanks Michelle! It really is super easy and is fast to get something carved and ready to use in a very short amount of time...I'm pleasantly surprised!
Carving in progress...
Up in the top right corner are a couple of fairies I made with pipe cleaners, embroidery floss, and torn up silk flowers. I can't remember the name of the book I got the idea from sorry... Anyway I enlarged them below to share with you all...The horses are great aren't they!

The eyes turned out really good and yep they are my eyes...

I tired out my eye stamp to see how it worked or if I'd done all that only to have it be a flop!
Nope it works really really Great! YES!
I scanned a piece of 50's fabric and printed that
to try my stamp on.

Have a great hair day! Becci

Crusade # 18 - I have great intentions...

Yes... I got the dreaded flu bug! I very rarely get sick so it surprised me when I did! I heard Kansas was one of the top states with the highest rate of flu this season so I guess it was inevitable...I'm in such close contact with so many people every day that I think my immunities are built up pretty strong but I also believe that the mind and the body are so super connected. I try to keep my thoughts healthy. That's such a long story and I'm not a very good writer but none the less I believe that when I begin to think unhealthy or negatively or I have suppressed feelings that really need to be talked about and dealt with I then begin to get physically sick. I said it surprised me when I got sick but really it didn't. I have been dealing with a very troublesome problem and the week end I started feeling bad there was going to be a major situation that I was very upset over and worried about. Anyway the event happened and actually turned out good given that the person I love very much who is involved learned a lot from it and it help him see with clearer eyes into the solving of this troublesome problem...Soooo as my Mom would have said - "Don't write the script Becci, you can't ever foresee or play out the future in your head. It just never turns out the way you planned."

About my great intentions with crusade #18.

Daylight savings had kicked in and I was feeling pretty good so Tuesday evening with coupon in hand I hopped into the car and went to get rubber stamp carving supplies! I now have carving stuff and a few new magazines to enjoy this weekend - YEA! It feels so good to feel good!!!

What about those silly old belt buckles?

My friend Jo has started a group of us artsy fartsy's to get together at her house and create new projects as well as just get together. I think this is such a great idea, I just love it when I get the chance to gab with others who think that spending 2 solid hours going through 1 shoe box of pictures is nothin' and who have collections of weird stuff like a big box of old belt buckles! What on earth are you going to do with all those buckles my husband John would (respectfully) ask...I lovingly look at him with no answer and he walks away shaking his head but knowing I will most likely find something groovy to make. And I did! Jo did anyway. She showed us all how to turn them into necklaces! OK now I'm sure this will be my next "thing" for awhile! HA!

A New Earth Web Cast with Oprah

I don’t usually watch the Oprah show because of the time of day it is on but one of my favorite authors Marianne Williams was going to be a guest so I recorded it. It aired on Thursday but I didn’t get to watch it untill Sunday night. The interview with Marianne was really good but what I really got jazzed with was that Oprah was announcing her web class that was starting on Monday! Good thing I watched the show when I did! On Monday night I joined the thousands of people all over the world to take part in this new exciting pioneer adventure of technology and uniting of the world!
This online class is not for or against any religion. It is intended to help all human beings, all over the world, bring about a shift in consciousness. Eckhart says, "How spiritual you are has nothing to do with what you believe but everything to do with your state of consciousness." Some people wonder how spiritual awakening and engagement in a religious tradition can work together.

Note from Harpo Productions:
Monday night's webcast was one of the largest single online events in the history of the Internet. More than 500,000 people simultaneously logged on to watch Oprah Winfrey and Eckhart Tolle live, resulting in 242 Gbps of information moving through the Internet. Unfortunately, some of our users experienced delays in viewing the webcast. We are working to identify the specific causes for the problems experienced and will work diligently to rectify them. The first session of the webinar will be available in its entirety for viewing on Oprah.com or for downloading as a podcast on Oprah.com or iTunes on Tuesday, March 4,2008

I also couldn't view the web cast...So I closed my eyes and realized I was one of thousands who at that very moment in time were thinking about the New Earth and the hopes for the changes and shifts to happen in myself as well as the whole world!I see this event as being one of the first big steps towards us all uniting in friendship, love and growing together instead of hating each other. How lucky we are to even be here now to experience this in our lives! I'll be telling my great grand kids that I got to be in on the ground floor of this movement/shift and they will look at me with wide eyes and say "really" and I'll say "really".
