I love Victoria Beckhams Pixie hair cut!

I bet lots of you would love to have this hair cut and I'm thinking you just might be able to. Some times all it takes is to just close your eyes and just say
"do it"!
A few things I consider when creating this cut for a customer are face shape, hair texture and growth direction.
If you have a medium texture with a slight wave pattern, this is the very best.
I have done this cut on super straight, fine hair. It can look real cute but it takes a lot of styling work in the mornings to keep it from looking flat, lifeless and frumpy. Frizzy hair or very strong, coarse, hair is not a good choice for this cut either. Again it can be done and it can look very cute but remember, it takes lots of work to fix it to look cute every day.
In my opinion this short hair cut can suit just about everyone, even someone with a full face. Taking into consideration your face I adjust the cut to suit your features. Your bangs might need to be a bit longer or the back a little shaggier or direct the cut to one side or the other.
What ever your hair type or face shape I think
confidence is a big part of enjoying this
super cute hair cut.
When styling, direct all of the hair toward the face from the crown. It’s sculpted to fit around your face. Don’t direct it back because you’ll just end up with a matronly ‘bubble’. And don’t spike it up with too much wax or gel. Soft is the key here. Ultimately, think of this as a little boy’s cut—cute, wispy and youthful. It shouldn't look too bold or too harsh. It should reflect your personal style...and if done well it will magnify that style!
Have a great hair day! FOR SURE! Becci

I will clean my plate

I will clean my plate of all the reasons I've made up to not get close to others. I have pushed friends I had away, I have pushed people who I know would like to be my friend away. When my Mom died I must have subconsciously decided to never let anyone into my space and to never love some one that much ever again! I think I remember feeling this way a little even when I was in grade school when 2 of my best friends moved away... Anyway, I am conscious of this about myself now and see the craziness of not nurturing my friendships and cherishing them.

So...I will clean my plate of all my excuses.

Has anyone else done this to themselves after losing their Mom, or a dear friend or a pet?

Have a great hair day! Becci

PS. Actually - my husband and my 2 sons came along before this subconscious thing I must have decided and I love my family very very much and show it every chance I get! But I have to say my grandson Bryce came along after my Mom died and as you all know I love him very very much too! I remember while holding him when he was about 2 weeks old it was then that my love for him hit me like a ton of bricks - the love I felt at that moment for this child was so intensely strong!
I looked into his eyes and told him that
I am giving him my heart forever!

My friend CeCe's blog "A Snip in Time" You gotta read it!

CeCe is an old school hair stylist that worked, trained and traveled with the best in the profession. Relive the glitz and glamor. Suffer through the sorrow and heartbreak. Snip In Time is her life story.

Being a hairdresser is quite a life and the stories most hairdressers have to tell would make a very very interesting book indeed! Geezzz... the ups and downs I have gone through are crazy and interesting and... I was working here in uneventful, conservative Wichita Kansas so I can only imagine what it would have been like to be in a fast forward big city like New York and to work with Vidal Sassoon - who by the way is responsible for you not sitting under the hair dryer for an hour for your weekly roller set!

(This is a collage I made for a greeting card).

As I'm writing this I am recalling a memory that is horribly funny...I had a couple of clients (Ben and Sarah) who were married and would come in together to get their monthly trims. Nothing special just good maintenance trims that were sharp for the 1980's. Which looking back on some pictures the hairstyles looked kinda bad but hey they were cute then and we all wore our hair that way! Remember those tight curly perms? The mullets!?! The big hair for women was well suited for the big shoulder pads we wore back then!

Anyway, back to my story. Lori the stylist next to me was the neatest girl and I really cared for her and loved her dearly. Only problem was that she was a frickin' mess! She smoked at her station, cussed better than a drunken sailor (with Turrets!) and she was loud and she was nasty! Like I said I really did love her because she was a gentle, caring, loving and creative soul. Ben and Sarah usually came in together and I cut their hair one right after the other. Ben was a Minister and was going to be giving a class in the evenings for a few months so to get out of the salon sooner they decided to get their hair done at the same time. Lori was the only stylist available at the time that they needed so Ben went with Lori for his hair cut. OK, here's' the bad part...Lori began Ben's haircut with the usual raunchy mouthed talk, boobs in the face, and telling a dirty joke. Ben and Sarah were both fully aware of Lori's personality and they were not bothered (too much) by it. Ben just grinned and kept quiet and Sarah and I were almost on the floor laughing about how Lori was going on with Ben! You see, Lori had no idea Ben's wife was sitting right next to them and better yet she had no idea he was a Minister! When she did figure this all out she just about got on her knees to beg forgiveness, she was deeply embarrassed and this is a girl who never got embarrassed! I really think that was the day Lori "got it". Her mouth and actions took a turn for the better. She realized how ugly she was. Treating clients trashy like that is not a foundation for a strong lasting career in this industry!

This isn't all that exciting but it is typical of the silliness that can go on in the salon!

The PERM will return!

We have memories of that stinky, tight, over processed head we sported in the 80's and 90's and most of us swore never to ever do that again...although as a hairdresser I can testify to the fact that those same people did do it again and yes, they were sorry...again! Anyway it was the style and when the perm was given right and on healthy hair the curly perms were very stylish and beautiful!

Perms will return - mark my words!

Although they will be very soft and give hair the texture it needs to achieve some of the pretty soft waves that we are seeing these days...For a fabulous example, Taylor Swifts beautiful hair!

Have a great hair day! Becci
